The traditional Brazilian Brigadeiro is arguably Brazil's most popular sweet. Enjoyed at birthdays, weddings, and formal occasions. It is best described as a chocolate fudge ball, chewy in the middle with crunchy chocolate sprinkles on the outside. The popular Brazilian Brigadeiro was named after the Brazilian hero, Brigadeiro Eduardo Gomes. The greatest thing about these gooey chocolate balls of goodness is they are so easy to make! Keep reading, to find the recipe below.

Traditional Brazilian Brigadeiro

Makes 15 Brigadeiro Balls

Cook Time: 10 mins

Serve Time: Overnight in the fridge + 10 mins to make into balls

Total Time: 20mins

Delicious scale: 100000000+

INGREDIENTS

1tbsp butter

1 can condensed milk

2tbsp cacao powder

125g chocolate sprinkles (for the assembly of the Brigadeiro Balls)

INSTRUCTIONS TO MAKE THE BRIGADEIRO MIXTURE:

1. In a saucepan over medium-high heat, melt the butter but don't let it boil.

2. Add cacao and mix using a wooden spoon.

3. Add condensed milk and stir continuously, the consistency should start to think up as the bubbles. Don't let the mixture bubble too much without stirring. When the mixture starts to leave the bottom of the pan, it should be ready to remove from the stove.

4. For a smoother & shinier chocolate finish, fill the small section of your sink with enough water for the Brigadeiro pot to sit in and stir the Brigadeiro mixture in the pot over the water. The chocolate will become smoother and shinier. Make sure NO water gets into pot and mixes with the chocolate, this will destroy your Brigadeiros!

5. Once the Brigadeiro mixture has cooled down enough, place into a container and let it set in the fridge overnight.

6. Once the chocolate has set and is a gooey consistency, you can start to make your Brigadeiro balls. Let the fun begin.

INSTRUCTIONS TO ROLL THE BRIGADEIRO BALLS:

1. Separate 15-20 mini cupcake holders and spread these out over your bench.

2. Have a soup spoon inside your container, ready to scoop the Brigadeiro mixture out into the shape of balls.

3. Pour chocolate sprinkles into a bowl.

3. Finally, lather some butter or oil over your hands and start rolling ! The butter/oil will allow for the sprinkles to stick to the balls.

4. Using your spoon, scoop out a desired amount of the Brigadeiro mixture and roll into the shape of a ball. Dunk the ball into the chocolate sprinkles and place into mini cupcake holder. Repeat this step until the mixture is finished.

TIPS:

- If the Brigadeiro mixture starts to stick to your hands and isn't turning into the shape of a ball, add more butter/oil to your hands.

-The less Brigadeiro mixture you use the more balls you will make and vice versa.
